Diana and John are no newcomers to the Hospitality Industry. Before retiring to Tarrington they owned a large Heritage Homestead at Whittlesea, on the outskirts of Melbourne. The homestead accommodated up to 14 persons on any given night. Conferences were held, large dinners prepared and served. The venue was also used for wedding receptions and photography. They have been operating at Tarrington for 8 years and many of their old clientele have followed them. Diana and John offer genuine country hospitality, being proud to give you, our guests, more than you pay for!

Tarrington has a heritage walk highlighted with descriptive plaques. You will see where tennis was once played, the old Lolly Shop and even the hand milking cow bales, as everyone in Tarrington once had a milking cow.

From this location you are a days trip to the coastal towns of Warrnambool, Port Fairy and Portland. Spend the day at Mt Gambier and see the Blue Lake and the Mt Gambier Caves.

You are now on the Limestone Coast and further along is the popular beachside town of Robe. Spend time at Penola and the famous wineries of the Coonawarra, passing the historic towns of Coleraine, Casterton, on your way to South Australia.

Our region is famous for its world heritage listing of a Geo Park. You can easily view Mt Rouse at Penshurst from the Cottage Garden, Mt Napier and Mt Pierre Point are close by along, with the Lava Caves at Byaduk. Let's not forget the Southern Grampians for which the region is famous, accessed through the town of Dunkeld. A meal at the Royal Mail, Dunkeld is not to be missed.

At Penshurst. there is the Volcano Discovery Centre and the Old Bluestone General Store which has been turned into a very trendy and top class Coffee Shop hosted by Kelly, who serves the coffee behind the original cedar counter and looks like a waitress from the Moulin Rouge in the Toulouse Lautrec era!!! They also sell antiques.

Hamilton itself has outstanding Botanical Gardens and our Art Gallery is voted the best regional Gallery. A short drive out of town is the Wannon and Nigretta Water Falls. (Click to view) The famous Artist, Louis Buvelot painted the Wannon Falls.

Tarrington, formerly Hoch Kirch, is an old German Settlement with many of the sights marked for tourist walks. The school at St Michael's is Victoria's oldest Primary School, having already celebrated its 150th year.

Within easy walking distance is the Catalpa Restaurant, excellent cuisine and very popular. The "Game" night has been written up in the "Age" Good Food Guide. Wander up there for coffee and treat yourself to their fine selection of cakes.
